Situated centrally in the South Pacific
the Fijij Islands are even indicated as "junction" or "center-point"
of the South-Sea.
From Fiji you can reach almost every destination in the South-Pacific
by airplane or ship ... dependent of the distance more or less time-consuming.
The islands stretch to both sides of the international dateline,
which runs directly through the island of Taveuni in the nothern group
of the islands.
From these 332 visible islands, approximately 100 are inhabited and you
will meet a coloful "cocktail" of most different cultures, folks
and relegions living together in harmony.
Composed from Fijian natives, Indians, Chinese, Europeans and European
half-breeds,
Fiji is the second-biggest country
of this region
with over almost 826.000 inhabitants. Centers of the economy and the urban
drift are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu the two main-islands. |
