Fiji boasts the second largest reef system
in the world and is well preserved. The endless miles of untouched reef surrounding
the white sand beaches of Nananu-I-Ra Island contain an abundance of marine
life fed by the islands close proximity to the Vatu-I-Ra Channel dividing the
main island – Viti Levu – from Fiji’s second largest island – Vanua Levu. The
Channel is a natural conduit for nutrients, which emanate from the Tonga Trench,
which passes by Taveuni and the nothern waters of Nananu-I-Ra Island.
The boat
trip to most of our Dive Sites is between 20-25minutes. Dive sites are selected
on the basis of tidal movements to ensure maximum enjoyment from Dives. Of
course if you request to view a certain marine creature or coral formation,
an appropriate site will be chosen whenever possible. We generally find that
divers prefer little or no current. However, some divers do ask for current
or drift dives. Whatever your level of experience and your special interests,
Ra Divers will do their best to accommodate you.
We recognize all of the international
accredited scuba Diving Agency certifications and request that you produce
your “C” card and log book to verify your qualifications
and level of experience.
Daily diving takes place to all of the fantastic reefs in the area, weather permitting
and providing a prior booking has been made. Our boats undertake a morning
two tank dive although divers may by arrangement dive in the afternoon.
Night
Dives can also be arranged. Multiple dive packages are available and a member
of our highly trained Dive Team, whom is very familiar with our dive sites,
guides all our dives. Dive prices include the boat transport, dive guide and
use of tank and weightbelt.
